We are looking forward to Homecoming Week next week. Lots of activities are planned ending the week with the Homecoming Dance. We would appreciate your assistance with upholding the dress code standards we have established at PND. The dress code for the dance is attached and is available in the Student/Parent handbook. All guests must follow the dress code as well.

Any parent interested in participating in our Parent Ambassadors Committee, please e-mail Lori Simmons (l.simmons@pndhs.org). Also, I would like to thank our parents for helping us get a great start on the school year, your support is greatly appreciated. Please let us know if we can do anything to help your child(ren) have a more successful and positive school year.

Blessings,
Randy Simmons

Drama: This year’s fall play is Any Number Can Die, a comedy-murder mystery in three acts. The piece is set in the 1920s on Raven’s Head, an island off the coast of the Carolinas. The relatives of the Old Cedric Russell gather on the island during a terrible storm where the will is to read at midnight. There are uninvited guests, faulty lights, a cryptic poem, and a missing fortune at stake as two elderly detectives work their first case. The play will be performed on November 12, 13, and 14 at 7:30 PM each night. Tickets will be available in early November.

Choir: Choir parents, please check the calendar and announcements on the choir website daily. The regular schedule and any changes will be posted on the calendar page. If you have not been receiving emails from Mrs. Strauss, please contact her at w.strauss@pndhs.org. We need choir parents to help with fundraising, yard signs and hemming formal wear.
Art:
The yearbook staff is starting to plan for the 2015-2016 yearbook. If you would like to share pictures from Homecoming week or other school events, please email them to Mrs. Goodell, the yearbook sponsor, at: r.goodell@pndhs.org. We’re looking forward to creating another great yearbook this year!

Earlier this week the PND Printmaking and Senior Portfolio classes went an artful field trip to the Prairie Center of the Arts. (See photos above). The students had the honor of meeting six different professional artists. Each artist let us explore their studio spaces as they shared their artistic visions. After feeling fully inspired by the artists the students were ready to create. To get us acquainted with the printing studio, Dawn Gettler(Program Manager of the Prairie Center) introduced the students to five different techniques of printing. Then the students were allowed to try out each technique with guidance from the artists. The experience was amazing for all of us. Thank you to the Prairie Center, Dawn and all the artists that shared their time and space with our PND artists. I highly recommend going down for a visit! More info can be found on their website:
