From the President

Last week we celebrated Divine Mercy Sunday on the second Sunday of Easter. This celebration was started by now Saint John Paul II. The Feast focuses on the merciful love of Jesus and especially the realization that God’s mercy is “from age to age.” I pray that we will all embrace this concept of the mercy of God and approach the Sacrament of Reconciliation on a more regular basis. Next year, why not make the Divine Mercy feast something to really celebrate. A blessed Easter.

Also I want to congratulate all who received scholarship money from the Diocesan Spalding Scholarship Fund. Peoria Notre Dame families received $72,000 in scholarship monies. That is great news and helps many of our families to make this worthwhile investment in Catholic secondary education.

The building campaign is ongoing. The Leadership Team, along with administration, continues to secure new gifts and move forward with the fundraising element of the campaign. If you, or anyone you know, are interested in making a gift, be sure to see if your company has a matching gift program. We received several matching gifts through Morgan Stanley and Northwestern Mutual. Thank you so much for your ongoing support!

Have a grace-filled week.

From the Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians:

We at Notre Dame want to thank- you parents for helping make Prom of 2014 a huge success. Our children looked and behaved tremendously! We received numerous compliments from the community about our students and their positive behavior last Saturday night. (Those are calls I like to field).

Academically-as we are moving forward looking at the next school year, you should know our teachers are responding positively to receiving more Professional Development over the Summer months, to help improve instruction and student engagement. As an administration, we are very excited about what the future holds for our students at Notre Dame.

Narria Tanguay has been named Student of the Month for her taking on responsibility for a number of events / organizations throughout the year: Christmas Basket Drive, All School Council, Viator House Council, Yearbook, and Prom Committee to name a few. Thank you and congratulations to Narria. She will have use of the parking space in the circle drive for the remainder of the school year.

Congratulations to Mrs. Katie Madison, teacher in the social studies department, and her husband Dirk as their baby, Claire Elizabeth Madison, was born on April 28 at 1:45 am. Mom and baby are doing well.

Again, we thank-you for your continued support of our school and most importantly the support of our students.

Bless You All,
Randy Simmons
