Faith Formation
From the Chaplain/Campus Ministry: This week, we prayed together as a school during Holy Week. Next week, we will celebrate Easter and the canonization of Popes John Paul II and John XXIII during advisory throughout the week. We are also preparing for the sophomore day of recollection April 29. All sophomore boys must turn in their permission forms by Thursday, April 17.

From the President

This past January our Bishop spoke to me about the need of a pastor at a large parish, and the importance and necessity to have priests for his parishes. I was pleased to accept this assignment and am excited about being in a parish again. My assignment will begin in mid-June along with all of the other priest transfers. I look forward to working with Randy Simmons, the staff in the president’s office, and all of you in these next few months and continuing the good work that is being done at the school.

A joyous Easter to all our faculty, staff, students and families as we celebrate the greatest day of our faith, the Lord’s Resurrection from the dead. Alleluia, He is Risen!! Alleluia, He is truly Risen! This is Jesus’ promise to us who live in Him. May the joy of these next weeks of Easter fill you all with the Lord’s peace.

From the Principal

As we look to next year, I would like to thank-you for your continued support this past year. It made my decision to stay as building principal quite easy. As we continue to transition, our attempt to keep you informed on decisions that impact your child is of great importance to us. Please do not hesitate to e-mail or call when you have questions. Please keep us in your prayers as we move forward.

Staffing Update: Mrs. Patty Brignadello, recently retired from Peoria Notre Dame as Admissions Director. She served PND for six years and built the Admissions Department to what it is today. She instituted the Student Ambassador program, Catholic grade school visit days and worked extensively with parents, students and transfer families in helping them to acclimate to Peoria Notre Dame and its academic and co-curricular offerings. Patty served Peoria Notre Dame with complete dedication and looks forward to traveling, visiting with her children and grandchildren and socializing in the community. We thank her for her commitment and service to Peoria Notre Dame.

Ms. Mindy Izzo has been hired as the new full-time Admissions Director to continue to build upon the good work that Patty began. She brings with her much experience, and most importantly, an enthusiasm for Catholic education and a genuine desire to work with the students and families of the community.

Under the guidance of dedicated mentors and in collaboration with a Bradley University professor, these students have used their burgeoning skills in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) subjects to create two socially assistive robots (SAR) – Al Yuminium and Alice Yuminium – for research with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Recognizing the significant impact of this ground-breaking collaboration between researchers and students in STEM, FIRST judges awarded Team Icarus the Wisconsin Regional’s Engineering Inspiration Award for 2014, which provides a NASA-sponsored invitation to Nationals.
