Class Expectations and Rules
This is a Christian school. It follows that good behavior and manners are expected in the
classroom. Respect for yourself, the
space around you, and other people and their belongings is assumed.
The following guidelines are stated to aid you in attaining
appropriate classroom behavior.
Adherence to these rules will result in a learning atmosphere beneficial
to all.
- Be on
time. Be in your
seat and quiet when the bell rings.
Prepare for the prayer immediately after the bell.
- Bring
necessary materials to class each day. Sharpen your pencil before class if possible.
- Be
quiet while checking homework and going over new
material. Talking quietly to a
neighbor is permitted only during time for working on homework.
- Raise
your hand to ask or answer a question or to make a comment. Questions and comments should be
appropriate.
- Spend
this class period on this subject.
Be attentive.
- No
food, drink, or gum is allowed.
- These
desks are new. Keep them that
way! Absolutely no writing or
marking on them.
General Information
1.
I am available for help before and after school almost
every day in this room. If I’m not
in my room check the mailroom and teacher’s lounge.
- Homework
is extremely important in math.
You are expected to have homework completed as assigned. However, I will take late homework up
to and including the day of the test on that chapter. Because we have to turn grades in to
the office every 4.5 weeks, late homework needs to be made up as soon as
possible.
- Absences: It is your responsibility to get
assignments when you are absent.
You may see me or ask another student for assignments but it is
your responsibility to have the correct assignment. See me about deadlines for making up
tests and quizzes. See the student
handbook about the policy on absences.
- Materials: Quizzes, tests and homework must be
done in pencil. Each student is
required to keep notes in a spiral notebook. Calculators are allowed
but may not be shared. Algebra II
students need a calculator which has keys such as log, sin, cos, y2,
etc. Graph paper will be required
first semester.
- Grading
Scale and Percentages
See school scale for letter grades
and matching required percentages.
Each nine weeks’ grade is based on
total points. Tests are roughly half
the points. Homework assignments,
notebook assignments, and group work are 5 points each. Quizzes are 10 points each. Tests are generally given at the completion
of a chapter, although some chapters are divided into two parts. Generally there are three tests each nine
weeks. H. Geometry classes will have
assigned projects that are approximately the value of a test.
