Mrs. Margery Wagner graduated from the Academy of Our Lady in 1953 and Clarke College in 1957. She is the mother of four children and the wife of John Wagner of Peoria.

Mrs. Wagner is a role model for all connected to Peoria Notre Dame High School. Having experienced challenges and tragedy in her life, instead of letting self-pity or anger take over, Mrs. Wagner has let God be her guide. She has dedicated her life to God, to her family, and to service to others.

In 1961, her first husband, Gene died in an automobile accident. After his death, Margery and her two daughters who were 7 and 20 months old at the time, moved back to Peoria to live with her parents. In 1962, Margey married John Wagner; later they adopted two sons, Kurt and Karl.

Mrs. Wagner has served as President of the St. Philomena's Ladies Guild, a St. Philomena Parish Council member, and in many other positions in her parish. Additionally, she has worn many hats, both literally and figuratively, here at Peoria Notre Dame.

The Bishop Sheen Award is not Mrs. Wagner's first community recognition. She has won the St. Anne Award, the highest Catholic recognition in Girl Scouting, and she has won the Thanks Badge, the highest adult Girl Scout award. In 2003, Mrs. Wagner won the Peoria Diocesan Pere Marquette Award. She was recognized by the Diocese of Peoria as Worker of the Year in 2006.
