Financial Assistance
Procedure

Financial Assistance is available to all Catholic families from affiliated parishes who have students at Peoria Notre Dame High School. For ALL Financial Assistance, the Private School Aid Service form must be completed and sent to PSAS for processing.

We are frequently asked if there is a cut-off point above which Financial Assistance would not be available. Because several factors such as funds available, the number of requests for assistance, and the seriousness of need are impossible to foresee, a specific amount is hard to project. Also, there are other circumstances such as layoffs, excessive medical bills, more than one PND student per family or other items which may affect the ability of the parents to pay tuition.

  1. The first step in the Financial Assistance (F/A) program begins in November when the level of funds available is determined as part of the PND Budget proposal presented to and eventually approved by the PND Education Commission and the Peoria Area Pastors' Board.

  2. Funding sources administered under the PND Foundation are also reviewed as part of the budget process to determine what will be available under the various Foundation Scholarship sources.

  3. Financial Assistance forms can be obtained from the Main Office beginning February 1st.

  4. These forms along with the required remittance indicated on the form must be sent to the address listed on the front of the form by April 1st.

  5. Private School Aid Service will provide their evaluation and summary to Peoria Notre Dame by April 20th.

  6. The Administrative person or persons involved with F/A review the PSAS summary, determine the various levels of need and make the final determination of F/A awards.

  7. Families will be notified by May 15th as to whether or not they qualify for financial assistance and how much assistance they will be allotted.

  8. In most cases, students receiving F/A will be required to work at Peoria Notre Dame one or two weeks during the summer. The assigned weeks will be listed in the May 15th notification letter.

  9. Families filing after the April 1st deadline will be considered based on need and the availability of Financial Assistance funds.

  10. All students receiving F/A are expected to maintain certain levels of scholarship, community service, and responsibility consistent with the Mission of Peoria Notre Dame.

  11. Financial Assistance is pro-rated on a month to month basis. For a student who leaves mid-year, only that portion pro-rated to the date of withdrawal would apply to the student's account.
